Missing import in iCity Geometry Ontology: http://geovocab.org/geometry #4

Open SArndt-TIB opened 2 weeks ago

Dear all,

we are trying to index iCity Geometry ontology with an OLS4 instance, but unfortunately it is not possible due to a missing import.

We are using this IRI: https://enterpriseintegrationlab.github.io/icity/Geom/doc/ontology.xml

There we find an owl:import statement of http://geovocab.org/geometry - but it happens to be awol. Since I am not sure about the origin of this ontology, I was wondering, whether you have contact to its maintainers and might be able to get in touch with them, to fix the missing import?

Thanks for considering and all the best!

Susanne

Hi Susanne,

Thanks for noticing this! The iCity ontologies originally reused the NeoGeo spatial and geometry ontologies (see https://lov.linkeddata.es/dataset/lov/vocabs/ngeo), but you're right it looks like the IRIs no longer resolve correctly. I'm not sure when we will be able to repair this, however I would suggest that you might want to review the 5087 series of ontologies instead (see https://github.com/EnterpriseIntegrationLab/icity/tree/master/5087 but also more specifically https://github.com/EnterpriseIntegrationLab/icity/tree/master/5087/ISO_IEC_5087-1). These ontologies evolved from the original iCity work and currently form the basis of an ISO/IEC series of standards. Instead of the NeoGeo ontologies, this work reuses the GeoSPARQL ontology. Please let me know if you have any other questions regarding this.

Best, Megan
