request: Timeline "free running mode," where each individual clip loops by itself independent of length #82

Hello!

I have a feature request that I have been wanting to ask for for some time: I would like to have a mode in Entrian Timeline where I can have clips of different length looping independently. For example let's say the clip on channel one is one bar, it starts again every bar when it's finished, the clip on channel two has four bars and the clip on channel three maybe only has a length of 3 quarter notes and they all loop infinitely until Timeline is stopped or restarted.

I think this would be a very cool feature, adding more freedom in composing and enabling polyrhythmic infinite pattern fun.

This is a request for multiple playheads, which would be cool but would also be a massive change.

You can already achieve what you're asking for using Alias clips. Set up your three clips in your three tracks, and then fill the rest of each track with alias clip, and they will repeat the clips according to the lengths of the clips.

For example, here are three tracks with clips of one bar, two bars, and three quarter-notes:

Oh OK, I somehow totally overlooked the alias clips. This is a good solution. Multiple playheads still would be a bit more convenient, but I understand that it might be a bit too much to ask for and I think I'm good with this. Thank you for your response!

I noticed that recording also works while the playhead is on an alias clip, but the "clear" button doesn't, which is quite inconvenient. It would be nice if you could make the clear command work on alias clips as well.

Ah, good spot! I'll try to get that fixed.
