Routing Live MIDI track with 'In' monitor to E4L source panner #87

I have a midi keyboard connected and I'd like to route the notes I'm playing to the E4L source panner but after trying a couple of routing configurations, I was unable to do so.

MIDI Keyboard Input -> MIDI track 1-> E4L Source panner -> E4L Master Bus

I can see the input indicator working on the MIDI track but everything after the E4L source panner is silent. I see no activity in the E4L Master Bus visualizer.

How can one properly redirect live midi input to the E4L source panner and further into the chain? Is it even possible?

thanks

Hi Naveen - the E4L tools are Audio devices that require an audio stream to spatialize. If you just have a midi track going into an E4L Source Panner, there is no audio data. You would need to put an Ableton instrument or a VST plugin at the front of the MIDI track to generate some actual audio to spatialize.

Without that, it's correct that you'll see nothing on the E4L Master Bus, because no audio is sounding.

Here's a screenshot showing an instance of Simpler ahead of the E4L Panner device, producing audio.
