I think the reason that we went with hoalib is that they provide a hoa to binaural decoder, which may be a reason to stick with our original.
there are some annoying things about hoalib's format choices, but it can be worked around.
there are also some other nice things about hoalib, so I'm going to close this for now.

A little concerned that HOA seems dead in the water though.
Is ICST still in active development? Is there no binaural decode for ICST?

I'm going to be re-patching the main DSP server and M4L devices, so really no problem to switch to ICST if we would rather use that?
