Separate API #43

While the API is still included within this application, this will help us move toward allowing different APIs / being more of a frontend application.

Long term: maybe might be nice to ship a version that calls the API internally too. That way, we could get some possible speed enhancements of not having the API require an entire new request. Not sure.
