No album art displayed #7

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Start VLC player with the following command: vlc --extraintf=http --
fullscreen --http-album-art --qt-start-minimized

2. Play a music file (from the computer)

3. Play a music file (from the android app)

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The app plays the song fine (allowing complete control), but no album art
is displayed.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Ubuntu 9.04,
Android Cupcake,
Android-VLC-remote 0.2.0

Please provide any additional information below.

You might need to enable album art downloads in the VLC settings.

Yeah, I have mine set to "As soon as track is added".

The VLC implementation is pretty flakey, so it might not work perfectly.
Sometimes
it grabs the wrong art, sometimes the request hangs, and sometimes it doesn't
find
anything. The only time I've seen it work consistently well is with XSPF
playlists
that specify URL of the art.

Thanks for the response. It did briefly appear, so it makes sense that it is
not
working perfectly.

I suggest you make a note of it, because I was playing around with it for a
while. Its
not a big deal to me, but, I thought it was something I was doing wrong so I
was trying
to fix it.

Thanks for the amazing app!

This is probably a VLC server bug. I cannot reproduce with
http://www.jamendo.com/get2/stream/track/xspf/?album_id=48477&order=numalbum_asc
 on
VLC 1.0.2

I can't get album art for non-XSPF playlists working with 1.0.2. I think there
is a
new web interface in the works, so maybe it will provide a working URL to get
album art.

It looks like this feature has been broken for a while:

That is annoying!

I am on windows 7 now and have generally stopped using VLC for music (using
mediamonkey) instead.

For movies can the album art show something else? Right now it is a big grey
ugly box!

Hopefully it will be fixed upstream before too long. There is another feature
request to use this area for
streaming video. I was thinking of cramming the space with more buttons, but
it would be nice to put
something more interesting there...

This app is terrific! Jesus would appear himself if the album art actually
worked as well!
