I can't reproduce this problem, could you attach the console output for the
popup and the background page of the extension after changing profile?

I apologize, but I'm not sure how to see the console for the popup and/or
background page. Would you mind giving me a quick example of how to do so?
When I open developer tools, it's only for the current tab.

No problem. This is how to do it:
- Go to this url: chrome://extensions/
- Enable developer mode (Upper right corner)
- Find "Swap My Cookies" and click on "background.html"
Now leave that window open, and go back to the browser
Right click on the extension's icon and select "Inspect Popup"
This will open two other windows, one with my extension's popup and another one
with "Developer Tools"
So now you have 4 windows:
1. Standard browser window
2. Popup window
3. Developer tools for popup window
4. Developer tools for background page of my extension
Go to the popup window and change profile
Go to window n.3 go to console and copy here everything you find
Go to window n.4 go to console and copy here everything you find

Ok, set it up as you directed, which worked fine. Except, after I changed
profiles, the dev tools for background.html went away on its own. There's
nothing in the console for the popup, and after the profile change there's no
background.html listed in the extensions tab. See attached.
Also, somehow during this testing process, I lost all of my cookies and saved
password.. sadly don't want to go through that again so I won't be following up
to this thread anymore Sorry, I love the idea of the extension, but this has
now become a huge pain since I have different passwords all over the place I
have to remember now =) [not your fault, I knew the risks!]

Oops, a clarification for the sake of my statement. Turns out I didn't lose
any saved passwords (GMail tab prompted me to save and I thought it meant all
were lost), only lost all of the cookies.
Either way, I'm still bailing on this for now and will check back later.
Thanks again!

Issue 10 has been merged into this issue.
Original comment by fcap...@gmail.com

Problem just started yesterday for me.
Occurred once and then seemed to resolve itself
A friend ( on a different computer 1,000 miles away ) asked if I was having a
problem because Swap Cookies had stopped working for her, and stayed broken
Today it doesn't work for me either.
The drop down box to select a profile will drop down once. After you select a
profile you no longer have the option to select another.
I ended up removing Chrome and installing the latest build
Then I removed Swap Cookies and reinstalled
THAT reset the problem where I had one more chance and was able to get back to
the initial profile before it locked me out again.
I attempted to follow the directions in the post dated "Oct 7, 2011"
I was able to - Enable developer mode
I can see "Swap My Cookies" and click but can not find any "background.html" to
click on.
Is there any chance there is a virus or perhaps a script that is disabling Swap
Cookies and in the process blocking the ability to see background html?
I am running:
Google Chrome 17.0.963.12 m
Swap My Cookies0.1.8
Windows 7 Home Premium version 6.1 (Build 7601: Service Pack 1)

Same problem using Chrome 16.0.912.63 on Mac OS X Lion. I thought it was
related to the fact I'm using multiple Chrome profiles, but seeing that others
have the same issue, rules it out.

Can someone else do the following steps with version 0.1.9 of Swap My Cookies?
I am having a hard time trying to figure out the bug.
- Go to this url: chrome://extensions/
- Enable developer mode (Upper right corner)
- Click on "Update extensions now" and ensure you have the latest version of
"Swap My Cookies" (currently 0.1.9)
- Find "Swap My Cookies" and click on "background.html"
Now leave that window open, and go back to the browser
Right click on the extension's icon and select "Inspect Popup"
This will open two other windows, one with my extension's popup and another one
with "Developer Tools"
So now you have 4 windows:
1. Standard browser window
2. Popup window
3. Developer tools for popup window
4. Developer tools for background page of my extension
Go to the popup window and change profile
Go to window n.3 go to console and copy here everything you find and paste it
here
Go to window n.4 go to console and copy here everything you find and paste it
here
Thanks for your time, hopefully with your help I will be able to fix this bug.

Thank you for your time and help. Hopefully I will find the problem.
@kurtwenzel: I highly doubt this is caused by a virus, more probably it's some
bug in my code that makes the background.html crash.
