I would assume the hacked coins would have been distributed via POR? Therefore they could be distributed via project rain?
What about using them as bounties for important gridcoin tasks ? It would reward people who work towards making grc better
I agree with @MagixInTheAir Everyone would profit from a better Wallet. Also 30k spread among all the researchers and investors, would only be a few Gridcoins for the individual.
I would like to see them burnt but how do we prove no one has access to the burn address.
The burn address is S67nL4vELWwdDVzjgtEP4MxryarTZ9a8GB. If there is private key for this address, then we have a serious problem.
I did not add "Rain" option, as I don't know how to do a proper rain. Giving them as development bounties is little absurd, but hey, added as option. Also added Abstain option.
I don't like the idea of raining it. Why should big crunchers get GRC that shouldn't really exist? Or should it exist? Did generating that GRC reduce the amount generated for researchers?
I am all for raining on crunchers. Fetch the superblock before the time of the hack and use that as a base of distruting. Exclude kikipope.
Using as bounties for development would help all of Gridcoin the most I think, raining would only help the big ones.
If a burn address would be needed, I would have one here: SDoNotSendYourCoinsHereXXxxxw598fo
@tomasbrod Why do you think using as dev bounties would be absurd ?
Added: The Rain option requires significantly more work to execute than the other options. Dumping to the faucet seems as pretty close and easy alternative to rain.
@MagixInTheAir I can't explain it.
You see? We can't reach a consensus here in the comments. That is why a poll is for.
:+1: for a poll
I've created the poll now (14 days duration), see
There is another option. Let Tomas keep it since he fixed he spotted and fixed the exploit.
@3ullShark @tomasbrod will be paid by the hour for the work done.
@tomasbrod: May we know what your personal preference is, and can you motivate it? edit: (And thnx @denravonska for the poll's url)
@QuaxEros He already voted Burn+Faucet. See here: https://gridcoinstats.eu/poll/where_should_30k_grc_from_various_hacking_attempts_go_to?
I thought he hacked 70,000 grc total? What is the total?
If these coins are burnt, someone has to check the txid to ensure they went there. I like dc7ds burn address. Btw, the client can make a burn address also (but no need to do that as we have one above).
The poll ended today with 62.916% (23M4) for Burn, 28.7653% (10M7) for Bounties. I am very satisfied for how the poll ended. I expected higher votes for the Faucet/Rain and much lower for Bounties. I will be sending the Trx later today.

Description: Use TomasBrod accumulated non small amount of real gridcoins from various exploit testing (note: not the 1M hack). Funding foundation with hacked coins may be concerning. Burning increases scarcity and may help price of GRC.

Notes: Please reword and modify or add options as you wish. Also @gridcoin now asked me to return to foundation, not that I don't want to, but some users in Slack raised concerns that funding the Foundation might not be clean / fair / good for PR.
The Rain option requires significantly more work to execute than the other options. Dumping to the faucet seems as pretty close and easy alternative to rain.
