Enterprise install failing on server authorization #196

So I am trying to use chef to install enterprise 10.6.1 on a 3 VM set up. VM1 - Portal and WA, VM2 - Server and WA, VM3 - datastore. It sets up portal (though it fails if I try to run patches) and then sets up server. Once it gets to authorizing the server it gets stuck in a loop where it fails with the prvc file. I can manually authorize the server using the ecp codes within the prvc file. Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot this?

Please open the prvc file in a text editor and check that it has Email attribute set. Most likely Email or some other attribute is missing in the authorization file and SoftwareAuthorization tool waits for its value to be entered.

I did check that and the only thing missing would be the portion that asks for industry etc. This is the user info portion:

First Name=Christian Last Name=Smith Organization=NM State Land Office Department=ITD - GIS Email=csmith@slo.state.nm.us Address 1=310 Old Santa Fe Trail City=Santa Fe State/Province=NM Location Code=US Location=US Zip/Postal Code=87504 Phone Number=5058275458

When I originally was setting up the roles, I was thinking I could set up the three machines from 1 role. Once I figured out that I needed to set up three roles, I set up the role for portal, server and dst. When I went to run the portal role for the first time, I accidentally pointed the auth file to the server prvc not the portal prvc. I changed the the role to point to the correct prvc and it ran fine. Then I went to run the server role and it got stuck on authorization. Could the file be "linked" to the portal server?

Try to run SoftwareAuthorization tool manually from command line. Is it windows or linux?

csmith-nmslo commented 5 years ago

It's windows server 2016.

Chef runs SoftwareAuthorization tool like this:

SoftwareAuthorization.exe /VER 10.6 /LIF <license_file.prvc> /S
