Is it possible to add WFS service support for flex viewer 3.2?

No, the API supports WMS and WMTS, but not WFS. We don't have any plans to support WFS in the API.

I thought that someone wrote a custom (unsupported) WFS layer at one point… let me look for it.

yes it is! see the code here: http://code.google.com/p/wfst-arcgis-viewer/ get the source trunk it is compatible for the viewer and lib 3.x
