Currently Pagination defaults to left aligned and prescribes a set number of page items at each breakpoint.
We can explore displaying as many "pages" as possible as seen in the Figma demo below, where the content is centered in the width and "pages" are added once there is enough space for the width of the next page item.

Padding and min-widths of page items stay the same
