.xlsx not working in ArcMap #625

Background

Add-in fails when trying to import a .xlsx in ArcMap.

Repro steps

In ArcMap
Open Coordinate Conversion pane
Click the bottom Import button to import a file
Select TabletoPoint_no_spaces.xlsx
- import fails with a "Something went wrong" message

Additional info

Military Tools 3.5.0.317
- ArcMap 10.7.0.10450
did not observe this problem with ArcGIS Pro
