Coordinate Format Types #182

Please add support for other coordinate format types:

MGRS and USNG

@driskull Matt - this is might be cross-listed somewhere, but it is definitely important.

Builder - we would need to add this in the options section? User - have you seen any good designs/widget for coordinate entry? Most of the ones I have seen do not really guide the user to enter coordinates correctly.

driskull commented 10 years ago

@pjdohertygis Can you give me examples of how one enters these formats? The geocoder may be able to handle these formats if specified.

Degrees-Minutes-Seconds 34 03 21.210156N 117 11 40.649859W Degrees-Decimal-Minutes 34 03.298890N 117 11.644539W Decimal Degrees 34.054981N 117.194076W (this should be the default) UTM 11N 482089 3768269 USNG / MGRS 11S MT 82089 68269

I copied and pasted these from Ops Dashboard on Desktop - no real GUI on the front end. They force you to guess on how to enter the coords...but they do give a helpful dropdown

hey @NikkiGolding. Would like your feedback on the coordinates if you have time:

@driskull Thanks for incorporating! think it look great! I will test a bit more when I am back from vaca.

NikkiGolding commented 10 years ago

@driskull I wanted to take a deeper look at the cooridates. However, in looking at the URL above, things seem to have changed since I last looked. I only see lat/lon as an option. Is there a diff URL I should look at?

Could you clarify how we can enter coordinates as Degrees/Minutes/Seconds or Degrees/Decimal Minutes into a Geoform? We have tried a few ways to enter, but haven't had any success. Here's what we're seeing.

Only lat/lon, USNG/MGRS/UTM are supported. They can't be entered as you have in the screenshot.

pjdohertygis commented 8 years ago

@driskull - could you point her to some JS scripts where coordinates can be entered in the other two lat / long formats?

I think the best way would be to use the search locator to do that.
