Option for default settings of a new event - notification default-off #916

Hey there,

i want to use etar for all my plans. For most events i dont need a notification.

The default for a new event is with notification. So if i quickly create an event and forget to turn notifications off i will get an alarm for a regular event that will annoy me.

This is different for other users of course so theres no real answer for what the default-setting should be.

But i should be able to the change the default for new events in my etar. This is my key request.

There's been more requests of default-settings of new events in older issues. Default time, default calender, default places....

A general really good way to deal with these needs would be the possibility to create "templates" for new events.

Like "important meeting" where i want to be reminded the day before and an hour before.

And "holiday/plans" that are defaulting to whole-day events without reminder....

Lots more options...

Would be great to create as many templates as i want and choose them when clicking the '+' for a new event.

To follow up on this, I also use my calendar as a log for various things, and those events don't need reminders attached to them. As a minimal change, I'd just like to see a "None" option in the list of default reminder times.

Edit: this is apparently what the -1 option is for -- please consider re-labelling it as "None"!

This seems to be a regression, because this option is already called "None" on my device: IMG_20220701_145843

I use app version "11" served by LineageOS 18.1, see source

I also see "-1" instead of "None", in version 1.0.30 from F-Droid on Android 12.

The problem here is that the reminder times are a scrolling list, and the top of the list can get set to the current default, in which case the None option is there, but it's invisible off of the top of the window. Making the scrollbar permanently visible would probably help: there is an Android option somewhere in the View class to do this.

This problem persists with version1.0.34 and is currently causing pain on shared calendars that I administrate. Sometimes users are inadvertently entering reminders for events that concern some but not all calendar readers and which should not cause reminder popups. Please make sure that “None” is available as an option when setting this default.
