[general] Write the `Locations` landing page intro card #100

Closed heysokam closed 4 months ago

Important: Do NOT give fine grained details of distinguishing between prototypical worlds and instances of worlds. This page is a simple/conceptual introduction

Core goal

Writing an intro about locations in the context of the metaverse is a great way to educate the many people foreign to the concept of a metaverse

Description

Locations are the core heart of what Ethereal Engine is at the most fundamental level The idea of this page is to give the "grandma level" overview of what they are, and why they are such a crucial concept at the core of the spatial web

This article is not technical. It's an overview at the most simple conceptual level of what they are, since they pretty much define our engine uniqueness in every possible way

Potentially misleading/confusing concepts to clarify

These could be pre-existing in the mind of the reader They don't need to be explained, just filtered away with a good description of what a Location really is.

  • Prototypical world
  • Backdrop or setting for an experience
  • Actual clone/duplicate/instance of that backdrop
  • General words related : world, venue, place, backdrop, setting, room, server, group, game "level", scenario, backdrop All of these words fit, except that they are applied in the context of the spatial web

In the context of this article, a Location is not a "session", "instance", "server", etc. That would be a technical description.

A location, for this article, is a virtual location of the Metaverse space. They are named locations, because they mirror physical space, but in the metaverse virtual space.

Technical content

Warning: Read this first, and be careful not to write technical content that belongs to the manual article instead
