Conceptual idea: tools and training to help write optimized news for fact checking #13

In today's journalistic standards, even though they have the potential to write Web content with hyperlinks, they do not use it in a more meaningful way. There are several reasons for this, but even a well-intentioned journalist in a newsroom with an intense stream of news would have difficulties because of the lack of tools to help check facts and expose in a way that both human and machines could do a deep verification.

Content distributors already apply filters to separate (or reinforce with prominent information) news that have been checked by other sources used by humans.

This conceptual idea focuses on strategies to help who writes the news. That is, it works at the other end. Ideally we should have open solutions so that it is easier for those who want to have an ethical work that simply educates the world to look for material of greater relevance.

Social Impact

Although it is more difficult to develop than controlling and filtering news by large content distributors, this type of strategy can help future players who only have an advantage over others based on wrong information.

Nowadays, unfortunately there are advantages in not cooperating. It is possible to see that political groups intentionally foment information chaos. I believe that a win-win approach is to work solutions where all sides are bound by public demand to create a fact-checking network when writing news.

Like all kinds of technology, it can take many years to be accepted and understood by the large public. Even because it may depend on other technological and social developments.

Technical feasibility and expectation of completion

Simple parts are viable, even because they could involve improvement in the processes of how news is written.

Ideally it would be open source solutions, free for all, but fostering and discussing this need in public may also allow more private investment in artificial intelligence that would have an ethical impact.

Relevant strategy: Filter on news already published by content distributors

Google, Facebook and other media groups who are releasing news are using algorithms to separate what is or is not "Fake news". This is helping to separate obviously false news, but at the same time it is, albeit wrongly, used as a pretext for a censorship justification.
