King Pong Picture Station #16

Open pramslam opened 5 years ago

pramslam commented 5 years ago

We would like a picture taking station at King Pong. We also like this to be a button station.

This station would allow you to take a picture and create a button to give to the event attendees.

Equipment needed:

Budget: $400

Future Features: Way to save and archive images, save it into a database and give the customer a number to retrieve their image online.

@jessicabob I know we are trying to get our own button maker (and its in the budget!), but would it be worth it to reach out to the library and see if we can borrow the one they have for the first event?

jessicabob commented 5 years ago

@roryfox Mark also had a friend who we borrowed one from last year. Do you know someone at the library to talk to? The issue last year was that it took a long time for the materials to get here- we had the maker and the materials got here at the last moment.

jessicabob commented 5 years ago

@pramslam - I think that this needs to be pushed to the July event. Maybe we get lighting and someone takes the picture (and we post on the website) but no printing for June?

image I think we are having 2 conversations. These are some of the pins from last year. They are about an inch across.

roryfox commented 5 years ago

@jessicabob And these were made on site? If we couldnt borrow the Library one for next week we could make ahead, unless part of the charm is us making them right there in front of the folks! Also I sort of hijacked the printer/photo issue... Thats something we can look as an add on but not for June

jessicabob commented 5 years ago

@roryfox All of the charm is making them there - the kids like to do it because it bangs around and the random adults like to do it because my son was teaching them - I do feel a bit of ownership about it because of that. You should have seen us lugging the suitcase of supplies down the block in our costumes - it was funny in that we didn't stand out on the street. Mark had another maker source and I am so annoyed that I can't remember - maybe it was Greg? It was Greg- I am messaging him currently (so many windows open) - he says that they also have magnet backs so it can be fridge marketing too!

pramslam commented 5 years ago

@roryfox Yes, definitely part of the charm is making them there.

@jessicabob Yes, I think we can do a picture taking station as a preliminary test and figure out the flow of the station. Then in July we can roll the button making machine into the the process. We would just need a smartphone, tripod, and light.

I've seem small disposable film for Instax cameras, but the film is somewhat pricey, about $0.50 a shot. And it does not include the printer or camera. The printer I linked below lets you take the picture with your phone and send it to the device to print.

@pramslam I am trying to follow - we could have this picture taking station but we totally didn't budget for it. The instant pics are cool (I have a camera) but the pictures are too thick to fit into a button maker. I think that we should put off buying more things until we determine whether the matching sponsorship comes in.

Currently the button maker that we have access to is 1.25" one - I need to purchase the supplies for it. If we are going to make the bigger buttons (with players pictures) then we need to use the budget to get the bigger button maker. I think that we should revisit all of this for the July event. Hopefully the money stuff will be sorted by then (both incoming funds and the reimbursement process). I am going to make a new card that is for the buttons for June. The picture station should be a separate thing and for June maybe we need some lighting and a smartphone and a person that volunteers to take all the pictures of the players.

UPDATE: I cancelled this order (I ordered a larger button maker that should be here in July. I found the button maker from last yer. we should have plenty of button making happening july, august)

I can prolly reach out to digikey and ask them what printers they used

markdav-is commented 5 years ago

I think the final disposition for 2019 was to go with stickers from the sprocket and a new background. we have that gear and it's OK.

markdav-is commented 5 years ago

I found an instax mini 9 and ordered 60 pix worth of film. We can use those as well. I think it's easier to frame the shots
