HD channels not working #4

Closed volenin closed 10 years ago

volenin commented 10 years ago

Great plugin, have been using it for 2-3 years. Thanks a lot for the work! One issue that keeps on coming up (seems like i'm not the only one judging from forums): HD Channels don't play as expected. When started, they would play for literally 1 second, then freeze and next channel in the line up will start playing. Would be great if this can be fixed.

PS: i'm assuming it's a known issue. If not, i can provide log files, etc

Eugene-Bond commented 10 years ago

Dear Vladimir

Thank you very much for your feedback.

Please provide us with more information about XBMC version which is used, OS where XBMC is hosted. The best will be to provide xbmc.log.

The most likely an issue is not related to the addon itself, but having more details will be helpful for analysing.

Thanks for a prompt response, Eugene. Here is a zip archive with all log files (xbmc.log + audio, network, etc) - http://we.tl/E0IM6iV0Aw. I was trying to watch 'Первый HD' channel, line 574 of xmbc.log file is the beginning of that interaction. The scenario was:

1) enable 'Debug Mode' 2) reboot server 3) startup Kartina.TV plugin 4) try playing "Первый HD" channel 5) reboot the server

So, all log files will contain only the information between two server reboots in debug mode.

I'm running OpenELEC 3.2.4 (specific build is in the log) on ASUS EEE BOX 1033 NV GF 610M with MS Remote. Thanks.

Hi Vladimir

Please confirm if problem has been started after 6th of March, since some upgrade (of XBMC, OpenELEC, anything else) or it always was like this?

Cheers, Eugene

The problem has started when i upgraded KartinaTV plugin + moved to new hardware + moved to a new XBMC build. I used to run KartinaTV v1.2.5 under XBMC 10.x for a very long time (2 years or so) on a Linux server. Then I upgraded Ubuntu & XBMC to this:

XBMC (12.2 Git:32b1a5e), Platform: Linux (Ubuntu 13.04, 3.8.0-19-generic x86_64). Built on May 2 2013

..still, on the same hardware, using the same KartinaTV plugin. This configuration has been running for about a year, with HD channels showing properly, etc. After that i installed OpenELEC on ASUS EEE PC. With that, i had to upgrade to Kartina v1.3.4, as I couldn't download the one i used (v1.2.5) from Seppius. After searching through the forums there was a note that Kartina moved to a new repository. So, i downloaded the latest one from there and ever since couldn't watch HD channels :). If you can send me the 'old' plugin (v1.2.5), i can give it a try and see if problem is still there.

Vlad

managed to salvage version 1.2.5 of Kartina plugin from the previous installation of XBMC. The problem is still there. So, it's likely a combination of plugin version, XBMC and hardware, as well as a way to connect XBMC 'appliance' to TV (the installation that did work for me in the past used Analog RCA connectors, while now i'm using HDMI instead... Too many things have changed to narrow down the root cause of the issue, but the issue is definitely there. Other people experience it too...:

In any case, any insights would be very much appreciated!!! Really want to get my HD channels back! :)

An UPDATE: actually, it seems like some SD channels don't work as well - such as Муз ТВ... so it might be that it's an issue with channel video/audio encoding or 'bandwith' setting...? (ie, whether it's 1.5Mb stream or 2.5Mb, etc)

Eugene-Bond commented 10 years ago

Thank you for updates, Vladimir

Unfortunately XBMC (especially some builds for Linux-based platforms) has issues with playing streaming video/audio in some cases. The best what you could to do is constantly trying new nightly builds or to find some older stable version of the player.

The only one thing I might suggest you to try has been mentioned here: https://github.com/Eugene-Bond/xmbc-plugins/issues/3#issuecomment-34432862

I will keep ticket open while some solution will not be found.

Cheers, Eugene

Hmm, so this issue can't be addressed through the plugin?. Why do some channels work while others do not?.. I would have understand if this issue was across the board... let me know if you get some ideas - i'll test them out on my installation...

Yes! The fix suggested in comment #3 does work! Tried it on couple of channels that didn't work in the past, they are working now. Pls, close the issue. Suggest including this in a README file or RELEASE NOTES - I would think for whatever reason, streaming of channels from kartina (or any streaming whatsoever?) does not work with UPnP control enabled.
