Improve the definition of the cfResPubl entity #7

We start with:

Collection of information records that, in combination, represent a full and up-to-date history of research or scholarly published outputs resulting from, or related to, the person's research activities.

The link is not working any longer. Today the closest is probably http://dictionary.casrai.org/Outputs :

Information representing all the tangible results of the research or scholarly activity of a person or organization.

This definition is biased by one particular perspective, namely the Academic CV profile. It is not helpful in defining the single item - the publication.

jdvorak001 commented 6 years ago

The definition has been that one since CERIF 1.3 (at least).

OpenAIRE CERIF 1.0 has something that is more close to a definition:

The CERIF entity cfResultPublication (cfResPubl) is used in the context of OpenAIRE to represent research results that are considered text publications. Metadata about scientific journals or other sources that contain the research results are also represented using the cfResPubl entity.

The Open Dictionary of Library and Information Science (ODLIS) has the following potentially useful sentence:

[...] a work capable of being read or otherwise perceived (book, audiorecording, videocrecording, CD-ROM, etc.), issued by a publisher for sale to the general public, usually in multiple copies and sometimes in multiple editions. (http://www.abc-clio.com/ODLIS/odlis_p.aspx#publication)
