Not sure if this is intentional or not, but when preparing food at food stations, you can queue foods, so that when you finish your current task, you immediately begin the next. You can queue tasks for which you have ingredients now, whether or not you will have ingredients by the time you get to that task.
Steps to reproduce:
Interact with Prep Station
Start creating item
Interact with prep station while 'preparing item'
Select another item to create
Repeat while preparing item
Once you run out of ingredients, it will continue to perform the action, but it will NOT give you any product - so it isn't an exploit.
