Unable to retrieve XML file #47

Open wtuohy opened 2 years ago

wtuohy commented 2 years ago

When the user scans the barcode on the book, the following error message is displayed: "Can't retrieve XML file. Error message: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send.

During troubleshooting I "checked for updates" and received the following error: Can't connect to SpineOMatic servers for updates and downloads.

The computer has network connectivity, has been updated manually, and still appears to be unable to connect to the server.

Can anyone tell me what ports are used to communicate to the SpineOMatic servers?

Any suggestions on a solution?

Is this with version 7.0? If so, please try upgrading to the latest version: https://github.com/ExLibrisGroup/SpineOMatic/releases/tag/v8.1.2

wtuohy commented 2 years ago

Thank you. I did get the v8.1.2. However, I still get an error. This time the error was: (400) Bad request. ??? I'm thinking this is progress, just another issue?

mgobat commented 2 years ago

@wtuohy, did the original problem with version 7.0 just start recently?

wtuohy commented 2 years ago

I first got word of this issue on May 31st. The user didn't have much of a work load for this issue so I was able to work on it off and on when other issues didn't get in the way.

@wtuohy, did anything change on your workstations around that time? Please send me privately your institution code and several barcodes you know should work correctly. mark.gobat@clarivate.com. Thanks.

wtuohy commented 2 years ago

Where can I find the institution code?

mgobat commented 2 years ago

@wtuohy, I think the easiest place is the leading part of your Alma URL, the xxx here: https://xxx.alma.exlibrisgroup.com.

wtuohy commented 2 years ago

The Alma URL as it's configured in SpineOMatic is as follows: https://api-na.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com

wtuohy commented 2 years ago

Barcodes to follow

wtuohy commented 2 years ago

The barcodes didn't copy well so here are the barcode numbers: 3 2105 401 835 466 3 2105 401 835 011 3 2105 401 835 094

mgobat commented 2 years ago

Thanks, @wtuohy, Could you please send me privately the API key you are using? I think I'm connecting to the correct Alma instance, but need to make sure. The api is behaving correctly if the barcodes are entered without the spaces. I just need to confirm I'm working with the correct institution.

Thanks.

mark.gobat@clarivate.com.

@wtuohy, that is the API key I'm using. Is it possible that the barcodes in the item records in Alma do not have spaces? If I key in the barcodes as you supplied, with the spaces, I get the same error you are getting. If I key them in without the spaces, it works.

wtuohy commented 2 years ago

We use a barcode scanner to enter the number. I don't believe it would include the spaces. I will manually enter the numbers without spaces and see if it works.

wtuohy commented 2 years ago

I get the same Error: (400) Bad Request. However, when I check for updates, I get the message "Your version of SpineOMatic is current". So it seems to be connecting to the server now.

mgobat commented 2 years ago

Hmmm...

Here's what I get with spaces in the barcode: spaces

Here's what I get without spaces in the barcode: no-spaces

I'm sure my label isn't the same as what you have defined, but the barcode is working without the spaces.

Hello,

One of our staff also reported this issue today. However, it is only occurring on some workstations. Everything works as expected on some workstations, but not others. As far as we are aware nothing was changed on any of the workstations. Has anyone been able to resolve this issue yet? Any suggestions?

Note: the barcodes are being scanned in; not typed. There are no spaces in the barcode entries.

Thanks.
