The version number 2.x contains interesting features but was never officially released. Even the first beta was released more then a year ago.

When will 2.x be officially released?

By the way, the status of 2.1 is very unclear. There is already a beta for 2.2 but 2.1 is marked as a prerelease.

@Sozialarchiv, version 2.1.0-beta3 is the latest pre-release version, released on 08-Jul-2022. https://github.com/ExLibrisGroup/alma-print-daemon/releases/tag/v2.1.0-beta3 There has not been a 2.2 version.

Version 2.0 was a significant update, allowing the application to run as a Window Service. This required changing the way the printouts were generated, and it caused some issues for customers who were comfortable with the way version 1.3.1 generated the printouts. Since version 1.3.1 would automatically update to version 2.0, 2.0 was only in general release a short time before customers reported the problems, and we pulled it back to pre-release.

Early pre-release versions of 2.1 were an attempt to deal with the some of the headaches 2.0 created for 1.3.1 users. It became apparent that the best solution was to restore the method of printing used in 1.3.1 for users not running the application as a Windows Service. For those running as a Windows Service, the new method of printing is still used (because Windows Services can't have a user interface).

Once more customers who were using 1.3.1 can test the latest 2.1 pre-release and confirm that they are once again comfortable with the printing, we will make it a general release. At that point, all users will automatically get updated to 2.1.

Post version 2.1, the application will no longer automatically update.
