So, after consulting a number of PEEM experts at Diamond, they tell me that the preferred name is 'photoemission electron miscroscopy', and that this is the name used by its inventor and Wikipedia.
Currently, PaNET has 'photoemission microscopy' as the main name, with 'photoemission electron miscroscopy' and 'PEEM' as alternative names. We can indeed change this.
I would suggest we use 'photoemission electron miscroscopy' as the preferred name and 'PEEM' and 'photoelectron emission microscopy' as alternative names. Is this acceptable? It shouldn't make any different whether people use the preferred name/label or alternative names.
I think you suggestion is totally acceptable.
In my opinion the current views of the ontology do not support well enough the alternative names information.
It is Photoemission Electron Microscopy at HZB. @BalazsBago maybe it is something that can configrated here https://expands-eu.github.io/ExPaNDS-experimental-techniques-ontology/index-en.html#http://purl.org/pan-science/PaNET/PaNET01146
So, the proposal is to:
I got a suggestion from our scientist to rename the photoemission microscopy to photoelectron emission microscopy (PEEM).
Is it possible to modify the label for an already existing technique?
