List major users of exiv2 #2642

Is your feature request related to a problem?

It will help developers decide whether to use exiv2 or another library. And it's fulfilling to see the major users of exiv2

It will also help maintainers of exiv2 notify consuming packages of the availability of new versions of exiv2. E.g. here's a patch for gthumb that they put together and merged after I let them know about 0.28.0

Describe the solution you would like

It'd be nice to list some major users of exiv2. Ones I'm aware of: gthumb, digikam, synology photos

Describe alternatives you have considered

Could list either on the readme or exiv2.org

Arch maintainers made the following list to track what needs to be recompiled against 0.28.0, maybe this will be helpful for those who want to know what uses exiv2?

There are some projects mentioned on https://exiv2.org/index.html but the list is incomplete. I agree with you though, adding a more extensive list would increase awareness of Exiv2 and help bring the project to wider use. This would then hopefully bring new contributors to the library.

One solution to your problem would be to create an Exiv2 Wikipedia page and store the list there. Wikipedia is one of the first places people search for information and is highly ranked in search engines. Linking other Wikipedia pages to the Exiv2 one would also help people to discover the library.

Someone could then add a link to the new Wikipedia page from exiv2.org, README.md, Exiv2 Wiki and any official social media profile.

This is only an idea, I don't have any plans to work on this.
