When you download new app, do you want exodus app:

sdfsd2 commented 2 years ago

I don't care. what I need to know. I use this site: https://reports.exodus-privacy.eu.org/en/analysis/submit/

When you download new app, do you want exodus app: actualise reports automatically ? implement realistically?

yoshimo commented 1 year ago

In reality we will need both. Fetching new data always helps, but it might still be missing in the database so submitting the new app automatically if there is no report would help for sure. This could be extended later on to submit every app again automatically that has no match between installed and scannned version to help grow the database . It can become quite tedious on devices with a big app library to keep it uptodate on Exodus.

Jean-BaptisteC commented 1 year ago

We don't want submit automatically apps installed on devices because they increase network traffic on server and lot of apps can not analyzed because they have device/geo restrictions on store or it's apps not available on stores.

With latest version, we have added more visible button to refresh reports and on IHM About , we have add link to open page to submit app

The app details on the device give you the source of the install so I think that we can filter the list of apps before we trigger a scan. You can add a cool down as well so you submit apps only every x hours and depending on the error maybe even less often. If apps have geo or device restrictions it is even more important to crowd source the scans.
