Tab and Sheet are used both to mean the same thing, i.e. a worksheet in a spreadsheet. Tab refers more to the tabbed nature, Sheet more to the nature as a sheet in the workbook. Which one is more common, more widely used?
We should make sure that
when talking about the excel / google sheet and the navigation: Tab should be used
if referring to the actual sheet and the data, use Sheet
when referring to the collection of Sheets, use workbook
So Tab will only be used when assuming that the user has the workbook open in Excel / google sheets and we are referring to something like "go to the Experimenttab and enter the data in the Experiment sheet"
