Do a test release #289

Let's make a test release candidate on NPM so we know we have everything we need in order to release the next major version of this library.

@grgia This ticket in particular would be good to coordinate on -- the IR team decided today it's probably a good idea to try to make a release candidate ASAP so we can make sure we have what we need in order to make a new release when it's time. I believe we'll want to coordinate with @AndrewGable on this.
