"How to lock iPhone screen with Apple Bluetooth keyboard - Dr. Shin's Notes"

When using an iPhone or iPad, there are many inconvenient points to enter letters using the on-screen virtual keyboard. Somehow, it is awkward than a real keyboard and the recognition rate is lower. As a result, work efficiency will inevitably decrease. That’s why many people use the Apple Bluetooth keyboard by connecting it to an iPhone or iPad.

Perhaps everyone will have the following experience once or twice. It’s a situation where someone suddenly comes close to you in the middle of your personal work. At that time, I didn’t do anything wrong, but I’m quite embarrassed. There are certainly times when you want to close the screen you’re working on suddenly, even if you don’t have a reason to protect your personal information.

Of course, you can turn off the screen by pressing the power button on the side of your iPhone or iPad. However, it is difficult to do this quickly in a sudden situation. And if you suddenly reach out and press a button and lock the screen, your intention not to show the screen is too obvious. In the meantime, feelings may hurt each other.

If you can lock the screen with just a keyboard operation while using the Apple Bluetooth keyboard, wouldn’t it be useful in such an unexpected situation? Here’s how to lock the screen, such as pressing the power button on the device by using a shortcut on the Apple Bluetooth keyboard.

Ctrl+Command+Q

In addition to this, the keyboard shortcuts to lock the screen when using a non-Apple keyboard such as the Logitech keyboard connected to an Apple device such as the iPhone or iPad are as follows.

Fn+L

On the other hand, there are times when you also need a way to go to the home screen. It’s time to close the app screen you’re currently using and use another app. In this case, you can use the following shortcuts on the Apple keyboard.

Command+H

This isn’t a full screen lock, but it has a similar effect to a screen lock. In particular, until a while ago, I was clearly hitting the keyboard, but leaving the home screen with the icons arranged can create a much more natural look than turning off the screen suddenly.

So far, we’ve seen how to use the Apple Bluetooth keyboard to instantly hide the work screen when working on an iPhone or iPad. Hope this helps users who often use the Apple Bluetooth keyboard.

Ctrl + ⌘ + Q Failure to Respond (Developer Feedback, iOS 15 Dev Beta)

Feedback ID: FB9449721

When connected to a Magic Keyboard, Ctrl + ⌘ + Q should cause iPhone to lock. As far as I know, it should respond identically to a single press of the Sleep/Wake button.

I have been unable to determine how to reproduce this issue - I have zero insight on when/why responsiveness ceases due to to how infrequently I need to lock my device. As per my experiences in the past few days, however, of being conscious of the error and therefore attempting to reproduce it, I can say definitively that it is happening quite often.

(Yes, I have tested my Magic Keyboard to verify it is functioning correctly.)
