Use dedicated BATC FFT endpoint, and remove BATC analytics tracking. #13

Hi Evariste,

In the future, please ask us before putting out software that relies on the availability and bandwidth of the BATC services in this way.

  1. This uses your own FFT websocket endpoint on the server, which means I can easily identify which software (mine/Rob's/yours) is causing a problem when a problem occurs.
  2. This removes the BATC analytics tracking. As much as I enjoy receiving the details of everyone's home usage of their PlutoSDRs, it's not what I want to be logging.
  3. Please place some credit to the BATC/AMSAT-UK for the feed. Given the cost and effort put into keeping it running by these organisations we would like to have some recognition in helping you provide this functionality, also on the technical side several of your users currently believe that this is received locally by the PlutoSDR.

The current way that you're using the websocket URL only works due to a bug at my end, which I'll fix in a few days, so please push this change through before then.

Cheers, Phil M0DNY

Hi phil : sorry for this inconvenience...just learning what should check a maintainer ! Of course credits and asking should be done. This was not my direct contribution and firmware is in "alfa" stage, means that release and credits not yet mentionned too (my fault). Thanks to BATC and Amsat for all this hard work . Keep continue.

Hi Evariste. Thank you for quickly merging the fix. I understand that it's alpha, unfortunately your alpha software is known to be very good! I can tell you from the accidental analytics that you've had ~35 people using it already this evening across Europe. It's excellent to see a new use of the service and I think this'll help a lot with transmission on the transponder without crashing into others! One of the important reasons for the credit to BATC/AMSAT-UK is that our members when they use this function in your firmware to help them, will understand why we spend the club money to keep the Spectrum Monitor running. Carry on! I'll get myself a PlutoSDR one of these days... Phil M0DNY

Thanks to BATC's fabulous SDR reception station and streaming facility, which does an exceptional job for DATV, we benefit of the spectrum of the real-time television transponder, broadcasted over the internet. Thank you for this resource, which should allow the software contributor for improve Pluto's embedded software and allow the transmitting stations to choose a clear frequency before stream in direction of QO100

We currently have 9 users on the 'fft_f5oeoplutofw' endpoint so this is working thank you.

I'm still getting analytics pings from several users but I know they'll update soon to grab the next new feature.
