PS: I forgot ... there is a pretty low unit limit in place which was very annoying. I had to destroy some unused stuff multiple times and it felt like only ~200 units were allowed. I feel that should be at 500 to make it manageable as well as a single player.
Well if it's hard on hard then everything is ok, have you tried medium or easy difficulty? I will look into the mission not finishing properly. The unit limit is split among all players and it's 1000 units.
I do not care about things being hard. But I care if it feels like luck is involved. And for the first 30 minutes it feels like luck is involved here and there. There is no need to adjust all that I mentioned ... but maybe adjust one of those attacks happening there, my prio 1 would be the destroyer attacks.
I never tried medium or easy. Do it on hard no not ;-). Me and my friend played the new seraphim campain as well as some of missions of the anti-seraphim campaign. Those are hard (on hard) as well and took many tries ... but it did not feel like to much luck was involved.
The split unit limit does not seem to work like you said ... my friend had no issues building stuff while I was limited and had to destroy units to build new stuff.
I've tested the mission myself with @Exotic-Retard who needs to be carried and we didn't have such problems. Also couple more of my test slaves didn't have such problems. If they were too cocky in the first run, they knew better in second, max third try. So I don't feel like adjusting the starting difficulty anymore as I think it's hard enough but not too much. The mission forces you to play offensive else you run out of mass, but that's a design decision. There is enough mission where you can sit on one place with your starting mexes and have no problems winning.
The unit cap is split once, so if you played with 1 other friend, you both had 500 unit cap. Thats why he could build more units and you couldn't.
And if it really took you 15+ tries and you had to enable extra resources, the hard difficulty just isn't for you. That's why there's medium and easy.
I feel mission 3 is a bit to hard on hard mode. The amount of gunships, bombers, T2 tanks and sometimes destroyers (they attack to early) is pretty hard and there is a lot of luck involved to survive everything without loosing the base or the ACU.
It feels like there is not enough mass. One more mex on the island and where the wreckage is might do the trick. We (played with a friend) had about 15+ tries and only made it once I enabled an 1,5x resources modifier.
In the end the mission did not finish as the captured research buildings were not accounted.
However ... nice mission anyways. Thank you for providing it.
