A project supporting the DRAO application ontology, a hierarchy of specific research domains and descriptors which imports subsets of terms from over 50 publicly-available ontologies.
Dataset (D) = experimental or observational data
Software (S) = code or tool repository e.g. Software Heritage or GitHub
Image (I) = where the primary data is image based, e.g. microscope or telescope images
Physical object/material (P) = where the repository contains a digital representation of material or physical objects, e.g. digitised collection from the Natural History Museum or cell culture database
doCument (C) = generic for any type of document that is not a publication, pre-print or questionnaire/survey. This could include training material e.g. presentations, and coursework. Examples would be the Galaxy Project or TeSS.
pUblication and/or pre-print (U)
Questionnaire/survey (Q)
Model (M) = e.g. a systems biology model repository
protocol or Workflow (W) = for protocols and workflows, e.g. WorkflowHub
Other (O) = if absolutely none of the other types are suitable
Reasoning: New types to describe data type scope of a digital object, rather than just a technical area.
Additional fields below will be completed as part of this work.
