I have just tried, changing the album name, and it is working fine.

You need to provide more information:

1. You are using windows - so is the MPD folder correctly mounted?
2. Are you 100% sure that the folder specified in Cantata's Music folder
section lines up with the mount point?
3. Are any error messages displayed?

Actually, I spoke to soon. Yes, there is an issue with the tag-editing under
windows.

To resolve this, please copy *all* dll files that are in c:\Program
Files\Cantata into c:\Program Files\Cantata\helpers

If you do this, and restart Cantata - does it now work? I have fixed this in
trunk, for 1.5.0 - and there will be no more 1.4.x releases.

Does the dialog not have a list of files? If so, is there anything after the
filenames? If there is nothing afterwards, then its probable that you do not
have write permissions to the mount point. (I agree, this should be detailed in
an error - but Cantata is in a string freeze, so can't add this).
