Using a different channel than Mii Channel #4

Open InternalLoss opened 4 years ago

Quite a few people somehow seem to not restore Mii Channel after WUPHax, and then complain when they dont RTFM for most guides that say to restore it. Since WSC is no longer active unless you want to download wii u transfer or your old wiiware/VC, maybe that would be a better channel to target?

"it's broken ok"? WUPhax works absolutely fine.

When I open up the Mii channel, nothing happens.

That.. sounds like an issue with your setup, not this GitHub Issue. Please ask elsewhere (may I recommend the bean corner or any other Wii/wiiu place?) - make sure you installed and you should see the ELF loader. If you are seeing Mii Channel, it's not installed.

If that happens you can just download a new Mii Channel from NUSD, it's not the end of the world.

Except that’s not the vWii Mii Channel unless you explicitly download it; it’s trivial to use a channel that isn’t the Mii channel that isn’t as big of a risk if it breaks.

Plus, think more for users who aren’t used to modding - easier to just use a different channel that they may not be as concerned about. (Though i’m pretty sure you can just install HBC directly from WiiU side now?)

I mean they're practically identical and work basically the same, the vWii one just has less features. You don't really lose anything from using the Wii version (if anything it's better) though you could also download the vWii version if you so desired.

That is a good point though, should've Just used the Wii menu manual. In these days though I think the idea of just installing HBC from Wii U mode using something like OHBC is a better idea.

I agree, but I’d still argue it’s not the experience the user had before - while it’s a good modification, it’s still something permanently changed (and installing it is easy for us who’ve done it but perhaps not for the 12 year old installing CTGP-R on his WiiU)
