It is maintained by IANA https://www.iana.org/time-zones
I can't recall why we put that information in the document. I believe we should remove it and perhaps just provide a link. We should revisit the whole concept though. The motivation behind it was to allow a Clock control to be pre-populated with a value without regard to whether daylight savings is in effect. E.g. 9:30 New York time. Though I have yet to see an FIXatdl instance where this is used.
The appendix of v1.1 shows the valid values of attributes of the type LocalMktTz. It consists of multiple pages that are very hard to maintain in markdown (arranged as 3 columns). At the same time a URL (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_zoneinfo_time_zones) is provided in the spec, which leads to the current list of timezones. The page of the URL has last been updated on Nov 9, 2020 and seems to be maintained.
Can the explicit table be removed for v1.2 as it may also become outdated over time?
