Make a Compound Object parent.
Add several child objects and save. The first child object's thumbnail will be copied over to the parent object as the parent object's thumbnail.
Click to the first child object and delete it. The thumbnail for the parent stays the same.
The fix would be that when someone deletes an object, there would be a check whether that's a child of any Compound Object, and then if so modify the thumbnail on that parent Compound Object.
Meanwhile, someone can click into that parent Compound Object and click to the “Manage” tab, click to “Compound”, click to “Reorder”, and click “Save Changes”. That will regenerate the thumbnail for the parent object.
