Creating the current reality tree to find core challenges and important actions

Hi everyone (really everyone), I need your help to know the current challenges and find our important actions in this ChRIS - COVID-Net project by a thinking framework. This ticket is to support ourselves across the repositories. The goal of this ticket is for stakeholders to find the core challenges and a few important actions by creating the cause effect tree called current reality tree (CRT) including all the undesirable effects (UDEs). I think the outcome can have a possibility to change how people from Red Hat work with this project itself.

Here is the instruction of the 2 steps. Practicing the steps with stakeholders together can create a better outcome.

1. Check the spread sheet [1], edit and list all the UDEs there.
2. Check [2], and edit and create the CRT there.
3. Check [3] and edit and add the evaporating clouds, when you find the core conflicts to remove.

When we speak the texts on the CRT, and we think it is good enough, it is done.

After I wrote [2] as far as I know the situation, I think the current cause and effect tree for this project is clear for everyone when seeing it.

• 2 challenges for the entire ChRIS - COVID-Net project
  • The process to start the project is complecated.
  • The project's attractiveness is not effectively shared.
• 1 challenge for Red Hat specific in my assumption. (my assumption might be wrong)
  • RH managers think their evaluation comes from their defined job.
    • -> RH managers think their associates defined job is more important than team-19 activity.

For the ChRIS 2 challenges, I will take a look at the current process of the starting the project and analyze. For the Red Hat specific 1 challenge, we will discuss the improvements seeing [3] - "RH working priority's Cloud and the solutions".

For the Red Hat specific 1 challenge, we will discuss the improvements seeing [3] - "RH working priority's Cloud and the solutions".

We discussed it last week in Red Hat about the Red Hat specific 1 challenge.

• The most people from Red Hat take the time for a few hours in the week, and take a long time to understand the technology for the project initially to be able to feel they are effective, as other open source projects do so. In the context, we need to adjust our expectation of the outcome that is unlike the one from full time work. We confirmed that people from Red Hat are comfortable for the current working time in the meeting.
• We will make sure to prepare small tasks and mentors for new contributors as a project based approach that is a task based approach in my understanding, that people do not have to understand everything about the ChRIS project to be able to work. We discussed the project based approach vs time based approach.

As people from Red Hat were comfortable, I did not push the following ways at [3] - "RH working priority's Cloud - solutions" to change the working time.

• Taking time the initial learning or preparation of the team-19 project for 1 week like RH university course.
• Assigning a few full time people for team-19 projects on the limited short term to be ready for the small tasks of other people.

I think that as we found the above 3 core challenges and here are important actions, we can close this ticket.

• We will make sure to prepare small tasks and mentors for new contributors.
• We will make sure to adjust our expectation of the outcome of people from Red Hat is unlike one from the full time work.
