ok it looks like with cpanel you have to add each of the IP addresses for github as separate A records

11:04 so it'd be name: chrisproject.org ip: 185.199.108.153 name: chrisproject.org ip: 185.199.109.153 name: chrisproject.org ip: 185.199.110.153 name: chrisproject.org ip: 185.199.111.153
