This PR includes:

Gets status working again for the openshift code path
Moves the switch between openshift and swarm to a param on startup (container-env)

@rudolphpienaar I would like to get this merged if you are ok with the changes. There is still some more work to do but this at least gets it working again.

@iamemilio FYI I started with your changes. Take a look when you get a chance to see what was left. Should give you a better understanding.
