we do need something there - the best way today/near future to store defaults in a durable way is in the firmware itself, and somewhere you have to be able to pick those. If we have some built in defaults for different ECUs (even if they share the same ecu pinout), those would have to be pickable somewhere.
We had a little chat earlier, for the HT implementation it might make sense if it detects the firmware version, user picks a vehicle and then pulls base tune from the HT server.
Basically down the road let HT handle it not the firmware bundle.
The technical challenge there is that you need some way to keep the canned tunes and firmware itself in sync. Right now, they're part of the firmware itself, so the compiler enforces that matching at build time.
Suggested revision if possible. To be vehicle specific. For example miatas (Turbo miata, NA miata, etc). This would be very useful for harley because some have traction control, some dont. M8 motor has 3 different engine sizes (including different cams).
It is already - we can have a practically unlimited list of buttons for "Set canned configuration X"
