Some spectrum trait implementations can now be centralized. #61

Since the traits have mechanisms to get at the underlying spectra, some of the implementations of the spectrum trait functions can, most likely be centralized as default implementations... just as the statistics functions were centralized.

Pull request #83 merges the work on this issue into main.
