[Bug]: Game crash after opening quest book #420

What issue are you having?

Playing in a multiplayer world with friends and when I open the quest book my game crashes. But my friends are able to open it just fine.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Join the multiplayer server
  2. Open Quest Book
  3. Crash

Anything else to note?

Installed modpack on Curse Forge

I tried Reinstalling game profile updated java to the latest update Deleted player data from the server

nothing worked

If you try a singleplayer world are you able to open the questbook?

If the answer is yes to the above question ^ I'll ask in advance: put the world files here using Google Drive or something. I'll check for the error (likely a broken file) to report it to our dev and fix it at the same time for you

I have tested it out and going into a single-player world does fix this issue and it also fixes an issue when you get an error [Error: Server doesn't have...] (Cuts out). Sorry for the late reply, this looks exactly like the error message in https://github.com/FTBTeam/FTB-Quests/blob/9f748aa674afa1b747948d16690bc3e82fe07d30/common/src/main/java/dev/ftb/mods/ftbquests/client/FTBQuestsClientEventHandler.java#L100

Is FTB Quests installed on the server?... Error?! Server doesn't have FTB Quests!

And is the server started using Forge? If the server is started using minecraft_server, then it's not a modded server, but a vanilla server.

The server does have FTB Quests on and it is a Forge server. It was a server pack downloaded from CurseForge.

This bug is just a minor inconvenience because it is easily fixed by loading into a single-player world and opening the quest book and then it works in the server. My friends and I just think it's a syncing issue.

I can't see the hastebin link to compare crash logs, but I'm getting a very similar thing in this version of FTB quests (ftb-quests-forge-1605.3.6-build.98). Not everytime I log in to my ragnamod VI server, but almost every other time, when I press my keybind to open the quest book, it instantly crashes, Crash log says fatal error is: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005). When I restart client and finally get back to game, I can open it with no issues.

Is there a fix or solution for this? Is there anything I can do to help figure it out?

Also I haven't played for awhile and reread this and saw the workaround of opening a single player world and opening quest book there first then going in to your server and it shouldn't crash. But when I tried today, made a new singleplayer world, when I opened the quest book it still crashes. So as far as I can tell the work around doesn't work.

do you resolve the problem ,i meet this problem today and dont know what to do
