[Bug]: Freeze on startup when FTB Chunks is installed together with Farmer's Delight and Environmental #767

What issue are you having?

When FTB Chunks is installed together with the mods Farmer's Delight and Environmental, the game has a tendency to freeze during startup. This does not happen everytime. It might happen more often if the allocated RAM is larger, but that is unclear.

There is no crash and nothing unusual in any log, the startup process just stops.

It's unclear even if FTB Chunks is the culprit.

Steps to reproduce

Create a fresh instance of Minecraft 1.19.2 with Forge 43.2.8, e.g. in Prism Launcher and download these mods:

architectury-6.5.77-forge blueprint-1.19.2-6.1.2 environmental-1.19.2-3.0.0 FarmersDelight-1.19-1.2.0 ftb-chunks-forge-1902.3.21-build.266 ftb-library-forge-1902.3.18-build.208 ftb-teams-forge-1902.2.13-build.100

Just start the game. If it does not freeze on the first time, it should after 2-4 attempts.

Anything else to note?

System: Manjaro Linux, jdk17 temurin

I can reproduce with just FTB Chunks + Environmental (+ dependencies).

I just added Blueprint & Environmental to my test world (which has all the FTB mods) and loaded it up - no problem. There was no delay of any kind. I also went and explored some new chunks in case it's some kind of worldgen issue (which sounds like a likely culprit), but again no problem.

I'm not sure what I can suggest doing at this point. If there's a way to reliably reproduce the issue, that would help, but I can't really do much otherwise...

It doesn't sound like you followed the steps I wrote down to reproduce it though.

Can you follow them exactly and see if you can reproduce it?

It does not happen every time, so if the game manages to load normally and you get to the main menu, close it and start again.

I've tried that too, and I have yet to see a problem. Environmental, Farmer's Delight, FTB mods and all required dependencies. Loads fine, no freezes.

Weird. So this behaviour seems to depend on something else too, like OS, or Java version or whatever.

Guess there isn't much anyone can do for now.

Can confirm this, too. It is connected to Abnormals' Environmental somehow. Had this issue with a mod mix - can provide details if needed.
