Spell type should depend on elementals used on cast and, probably, on form modifiers. There should be:

• mana usage based on spell complexity.
• casting level and progress system
• maybe some forbidden spell types that have huge power but also huge penalties
• cast forms like self, area, projectile, weapon, conjuration, destruction
