You can rename the l4D2 detail.vbsp files as well as the detailsprites sheet, then specify the new locations in hammer under map options. This allows you to use them.
@Stiffy360 yea but it would be very awesome if the devs could just add them as they done it on ep1 and ep2 (hl2) :>
There is a problem with all detail props, All of them across all games use texture sheet with the same name. There's an issue open for that but I can't find it.
That will need to be fixed before this can be looked into.

Hey, say could we maybe add the details from the l4d / l4d2.vbsp for gmod?
as done it on ep1 and 2 some years ago, would help me a lot with port optimized l4d / l4d2 maps and also would be cool for mappers on gmod
