So far this covers ack.go. Working on getting through the entire library... More commits to come.

Adding documentation on exported methods is great, thank you! Now the problem is that has been left open for too long and all that work is out of sync, there are many conflicts. @AdamSLevy would there be any chance you could rebase your PR against develop? If so, your PR will be promptly merged. If not we will have to discard that PR and will table this kind of doc work for later. Thanks
