What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Try to do something on hosts with different usernames, like copy around 
files to ~/.ssh/id_rsa.pub
2. Fail, because pscp wants to have absolute paths for remote url-s

I removed the sys.exit() after the check in pscp and everything works as 
expected. I don't understand why there is this restriction.

Agreed--this restriction seems pointless. I've now removed this in commit 
b6c8d71. Thanks for this report.
