Stuck at Building course Data... #570

Open nesho84 opened 3 years ago

nesho84 commented 3 years ago

I Updated also removed and installed again it is still stuck!

joro-ev commented 3 years ago

I also have a similar issue. I am on ubuntu 20.04 with udeler 1.8.2 I have downloaded the course before without a problem but now while i was downloading it I had a network failure. I stopped udeler , deleted the course folder and tried to download again but it stays at building course data, even on other devices. I tried deleting the ~/.config/Udeler folder, loging in and out multiple times and changing the download folder. I changed my password in udemy, logged in and out, to try and clear a session or something but no luck. It seems as thou the course is locked by me trying to download and failing.

nesho84 commented 3 years ago

I've also done everything you said 😃 maybe udemy locked this option!

joro-ev commented 3 years ago

The things is i have downloaded the course before, but i am at a new PC, as i was downloading it my net failed, and after that it seems the course got locket or something

I think it might be udemy problem because I can't even download single video via their official site. That's response I found:

"We appreciate your patience; however, at this time, we cannot guarantee when this bug will be resolved. Our engineering team is aware of this issue but currently they don't have an estimated resolution date.

Please note that our team keeps records of these issues, and we continue tracking them moving forward. If this issue is resolved by our engineering team, we'll be sure to reach out and update the people who reported it to us."

Thanks for the reply. Like allways, udemy bugs ;)

compiled a new exe with the new app.js and seems to work. too early...when downloading begins the whole app turn white

nesho84 commented 3 years ago

It doesn't work. I tried last night again!

dariusz22p commented 3 years ago

I have managed to download 'Coaching for Growth and Success' but then for anything else I get 'Building Course Data'

I think this new bug is due to Udemy adding auto-generated subtitles to English videos a couple of weeks ago. Check out videos in other languages and they can all be downloaded with Udeler without any problem. Not sure if it will help @FaisalUmair fix it, but just wanted to give everyone a heads up!

Puyodead1 commented 3 years ago

Some Udemy videos also have DRM on them which seems to also cause issues with downloading. Every other udemy course downloader tool seems to be broken because of this

haythamadel82 commented 3 years ago

I also have a similar issue

Puyodead1 commented 3 years ago

Since theres so many issues around the same problem, it might be worth taking a look at this issue since it has information in one place about the issue with all the downloaders: https://github.com/r0oth3x49/udemy-dl/issues/627

the TL;DR is that because of the DRM, you cant download full courses anymore. there wont be a "fix" or a "workaround".

PwrSrg commented 3 years ago

JUST found this app TODAY and installed it, and am having the SAME issue.

So is this app now officially DEAD?? 😔

RishiKumar158 commented 3 years ago

is there any update on this query??

udler stops at building course data what to do for it to continue downloading

PwrSrg commented 3 years ago

I have 1.8.2, with subtitles turned OFF, and half of my courses can't get past "Building Course Data".

image

I also now have a NEW issue where the course fails immediately after Building Course Data.

image

Its a bummer because this app has SO much potential. 😔

arjanv commented 3 years ago

and.......they are still trying haha.

PwrSrg commented 3 years ago

@PwrSrg Have you checked version 1.8.0?

Just tried it. SAME thing. 😔

I am open to ALL suggestions.

I seriously cannot believe people still don't understand that these programs can't be fixed, and are still asking for fixes and workarounds...

Maybe guys, we can do some shared drive with all the courses we have, while it's being fixed and at least we can help each other. What do you think?

* [ ]  Go ahead

* [ ]  No ty

That is the reason why Udemy added DRM, is people like you distributing the stuff you download, this program was designed for PERSONAL use as Faisal stated himself.

And that is why I originally asked if the app was now DEAD, but I was told it wasn't. That is all.

I am not asking so I can "distribute" anything. I PAID for the course, so I would simply like to keep it locally.

Whoever posted that other comment (who already deleted it) clearly had a different idea.

I don't have a problem with wanting to keep local copies of stuff you bought, I want to also. These programs are dead though unless you can find a magical way to decrypt Widevine DRM and a way to legally publish said method without getting DMCA takedowns. Seems like it should be pretty obvious that isn't going to get a fix.

Agreed. That's what I figured.
