Program does not launch/start/work

Describe the bug: Downloaded ZIP, extracted and ran. I came to learn that the master hotkey needs to be set before anything else occurs. Set the hotkey to various choices e.g. Ctrl+B, Ctrl+B, Ctrl+1, and clicked "Save & Restart". Afterward, the program did not seem to be running, neither did it seem to remain launched if done so manually. Deleted %LocalAppData%\Tabame folder to reset settings and tried another config after each test. I feel like I've misunderstood something obvious.

I have received a similar complaint as well. I am trying to figure it out why for some people it does not work. Do you have extra Mouse buttons? On the side of the mouse, can you set the hotkey for one of those buttons? Also can you set the hotkey to something more complex, like CTRL+SHIFT+F6. I am trying to figure it out the issue, or to remove some possible cases.

Edit: also after you press "Save and Restart", can you open Task Manager an check if Tabame is opened? I suspect it just crashes.

Edit 2: If anyone else experience this problem, please check this two cases and leave a reply:

1. If you opened Tabame and nothing happened, open Task Manager and check if the process exist
2. If it exists in Task Manager, check if the window exist on the screen. Maybe it opens but not renders. This is a bit more complicated:
   • Close Tabame from Task Manager.
   • Open Tabame and right next to your mouse there should be a transparent window, you can see that if window behind it does not reaction to the mouse. Look at the video below.
3. If you set a keyboard hotkey, set a mouse hotkey and check if it works.

Really excited to try Tabame, unfortunately I'm having the exact same problem. I have installed it multiple times - to set different hotkeys, finally setting it to a mousebutton. But I see it's not showing up in the Task Manager after the restart.

It hasn't generated any errors.log.

@elvinvandalen Thanks for replying. So after you set the hotkey, it closes but never opens again, when you double click tabame.exe does it show setup window again ,or it just not opens? Can you post here settings.json from %localappdata%/tabame ?

Yes, when I try to open the exe it never shows up in Task Manager again. Only way to get the settings dialog back is to uninstall and reinstall.

Extract it in a folder, run it and when it dissapears/not starting, please go to %localappdata%/tabame and paste here these two files: debug.log and debug_cpp.log.

Ok so now there can be two causes: either the way I fetch audio is bugged of how I fetch window Icons. Here is another try: Release2.zip

The same process, extract in a folder, run, then post here debug.log and debug_cpp.log.

It seemed to be working a little bit at first. It was running in the task manager and the menu was placed next to my cursor. But when I clicked somewhere else and tried to start it with my mouse button nothing happened. I tried to open the exe again and then it stopped working right away.

That's how it suppose to work, when it looses focus it disappears from the screen. There is an option to disable that. You can try open Start menu and type "Tabame Interface" if anything popup, you can go to QuickMenu and disable it from there.

Open task manager and press "t", there might be multiple Tabame processes, the one that stop working but did not fully crashed, just frozen. Close them all.

This should be the last try: please delete everything in the folder %localappdata%/tabame and download Release4 from below, extract it and run it, set the keybind you want and see if it crashes again, if it does, post here the debug.log and debug_cpp.log and also errors.log if exists

Thank you for helping me fix this issue, I wouldn't guess that these crashes comes from audio part. With this, I also fixed some bad coding practices when the app keep fetching audio info even in background. Thanks 👍🏼

I deleted everything in the %localappdata%/tabame folder. And ran Release 4. Sadly the same thing is happening again. The program opens, I set a hotkey, the program restarts and then briefly closes down again. No processes running in the Task Manager anymore.

For me, pressing the hotkey I set (CTRL + ENTER) and then the 3rd or 4th mouse button (which I didn't set as hotkey) shows the menu. When the menu is closed I can't interact with other windows, then I need to press the 3rd or 4th mouse button again.
