Significant improvement to the code base and functionality have brought the Faraday platform to a level where a second High Altitude Balloon mission is viable. This will be a full effort HAB unlike our first effort and the main goal of the project is to tie all of our (mainly telemetry/command/user interface) software updates together. The result of the project should include updates to the Faraday platform that easy and enjoyable remote telemetry projects by any Faraday radio owner.
Problem Explanation
Overall Goal is to make Faraday easy to use for end-use amateur radio telemetry and control applications on the first mission. The second planned mission adds significant functionality increase and will use Faraday in potentially non-telemetry only applications.
HAB Mission Scope:
Live telemetry HAB mission updating to APRS and saving high speed telemetry
Useful sensors for flight
Integrate prior Faraday software/firmware updates into a usable "system"
Clean up user and developer interfaces
Launch a real weather balloon with high quality helium
Updates/Functionality Improvements:
Raspberry Pi Faraday basestation setup instructions / Image
APRS server that operates 24/7 without interruptions
Open MCT GUI Intergration
System level Faraday integration education
i.e. how to interface sensors, software, etc...
Useful ADC signal and sensor use cases and affiliation/offering
Future HAB 3 Known Scope
HAB 2 is intended to round out all our updates in the last 6 months. HAB 3 will implement much more advanced functionality that may extend beyond simple telemetry.
Live photo downlink (Likely over Rpi and TUN network adapter)
Environment
Software
This project will use the current Trunk software and firmware.
