Validate Rev C Gerbers #1

Check Rev C Gerbers against Rev B Gerbers to make sure any and all differences are accounted for. The quickest way to do this is to use GerbV to XOR Rev B and Rev C, leaving the differences highlighted.

Faraday.drl Differences from Rev B to Rev C

• It's clear that the only holes to change were related to the via's moved around to route the RF control signal lines and GPIO lines for GD0, GD1, and GD2. These changes moved lines for
  • P3.0, P3.1, P3.2, P4.5, P4.6, P4.7

• It appears that only the area involving the GDx signals between P3 and P4 on the MSP430 moved.
• Honestly, I think Rev C looks cleaner! (orange)

• Compenent courtyards for several devices changed.
  • Removed R7 near power supply previously used for soft-start enable switching
  • Changed out L10 near CC1190 circuit from 0402 to an 0603 component. Also had to move an adjacent part sideways slightly to fit the larger package.

Faraday-F_Cu.gtl Rev B to Rev C Updates

• Several changes observed
  • R7 near the power supply soft start on the top left of the PCB has been removed in Rev C
  • The ADC lines in the bottom right were tidied up just slightly

Zooming in on the RF section:

• The GPIO lines as well as RF configuration signal lines were updated to help route GDx signals.
• L10 updated to an 0603 package which did allow copper to pour under the CC1190's bottom right corner. I happen to remember this area being a keepout. However, since no exposed copper or vias are in this keepout range I don't expect any issues.
  • :exclamation: On a similar note, I now have copper pouring beneath L10 which I don't trust. I'd like to keep copper from pouring underneath inductors. Provide keepout to prevent copport from pouring below

• Placed a keepout on the top layer to keep any ground from flowing under L10
• Added keepouts around L9 and C28 to stop copper from encroaching RF components.

• It's obvious from previous comments that the only differences here are the power supply soft start resistors removal and the L10 update to an 0603 component.

• OSHW logo and Faraday logo moved to middle of board and updated.
  • TAPR OHL V1.0 text added
  • Old Faraday logo removed.

Checking top layer and silkscreen after working with pick and place files resulted in a silkscreen change on X2 and in general want to make sure my footprints didn't change unexpectedly.

Top Layer Rev B to Rev C

• Overall looks like nothing changed I didn't already go over
  • R7 near power supplies
  • ADC lines tidied up
  • GPIO and RF control signals rerouted
  • Copper near L10, C28, and L9. I know I didn't pull back from C29 but signal already split and I can only be so OCD...

Rev B to Rev C Front Silkscreen

• L10 appears fine and 0603 with adjacent passive moved slightly right
• R7 removed

Rev B to Rev C Front Solderpaste

• Changes as expected with L10 increased to 0603 and R7 removed.
• No other footprint changes seen

Rev B to Rev C Front Silkscreen

• As expected reference designators for L10 and C30 moved with increase to L0603
• Faraday logo updated and OSHW added
• Faraday Rev and name updated
• X2 pin 1 indicator dot moved
